Home Winemaking School

Knowing that I am involved in winemaking, I am often asked to give a recipe for making good wine; or with a question about how to make wine from any specific fruit or berries.

Mainly amateur gardeners are interested. Indeed, they have the most necessary things for making wine - fruits and berries grown with their own hands. All that remains is to make your own wine. But, to be honest, such questions sometimes perplex me: to say that you need so many berries, so much sugar, and so much water is an understatement. It’s one thing when a person is familiar with winemaking and you can explain everything to him in a nutshell and give him a recipe, but what about a person who is not familiar with winemaking?

Well, how can I explain to him that the wine recipe is not the main thing? There is also a procedure for making wine - technology. But technology cannot be explained in a few words. But without technology and without basic concepts, the recipe will not help. Sending a person to literature or the Internet for information seems inconvenient and will cause offense. And I haven’t come across any good information about wine and winemaking for beginners, presented in an accessible form.

Sometimes, when reading material about winemaking, you get the impression that the person who wrote it has never made wine himself in his life.

And I did. I have over 30 years of experience as a winemaker. For me, winemaking is a hobby, not a profession. My family and friends like my wine, and they prefer it to the one bought in a store. They know very well that my wine not only tastes good, but is also healthy. It is “live” and does not contain preservatives, there is no added alcohol or pasteurization, and the products used in the wine are not treated with chemicals.

Over many years of winemaking, I have created my own, somewhat different from the generally accepted, technology for preparing fruit and berry wine.

All this taken together pushed me to open the Home Winemaking School. Now I have my own website where you can send anyone who wants information about wine and wine recipes.

Of course, I do not claim to be the “last resort”. After all, I am a mechanical engineer, a motorist, and not a “technologist-winemaker of a blending shop.” Therefore, I will gladly accept useful criticism and comments from both specialists and amateur winemakers. If necessary, I will answer questions. I will learn something from this. After all, it’s never too late to learn.
